it’s easier to stay centered and in connection when you’re on a retreat, on vacation or don’t have any obligations or responsibilities. This isn’t a judgment but this statement comes from experience. I find it easier to stay centered or in connection when I don’t have things to do, people or animals to take care of , responsibilities, or a to-do list that comes with a home and a family (and dogs).

But it’s also that the bigger the challenge, the bigger the invitation to rediscover that that connection is always there. You and I don’t need any fixing. We’re not broken. We might be caught up too much in the illusion of life but we’re not broken. We don’t need to fix ourselves. There isn’t a connection to lose.

And yet, in my experience, it does feel like I’m losing my connection with the universal truths, with myself when I’m caught up in the day-to-day business of life.

ESPECIALLY, now I’m working again. Oh my, these past 4 to 5 weeks have been crazy.

Gone are the days of planning my own day. I have a schedule to keep now that I cannot design myself. It’s pre-organised and I “have” to comply with it if I want this job. So I choose for this situation but this doesn’t mean I have to lose myself in the unconsciousness of the illusion of life.

But I did. I’m not perfect.

And a beautiful example of that has been my sleep. I haven’t slept well for 3 or 4 weeks. Why? Because my limiting belief of “not being good enough” is triggered in my working situation. I really like this job and I like the “financial security” (there’s no security like that. That’s part of the illusion of living. Security is found only in Trust and Surrender).

And my work is being “judged” by my superior at work. And let me tell you that my insecurities kept me up at night.

I had a hard time falling asleep and I woke up an hour before my alarm clock (I woke up at 4 am. Really, that’s too early!). So for the past few weeks, I’ve been working on 5 to 6 hours of sleep. And I need my sleep. At the moment I started to dial a zipcode instead of a phone number at work I really knew I had to do something. I was very aware of my limiting beliefs disrupting my sleep. I was aware of the beautiful invitation to dive deeper into self-acceptance and self-love.

So here’s what I did. My situation is a reflection of me. It’s something I have created and the lack of sleep is an invitation to transform a limiting belief.

First Step
My first priority was to get more rest so I could handle myself better so I started to go to bed really early (8:30 pm). This way I gave myself one hour of sleep more. By doing this I felt more rested and more able to work with my limiting beliefs.

Second Step
I finished my book on Forgiveness by Colin Tipping. A great book about shadow work (although it doesn’t mention shadow work as such) and forgiveness. By reading and studying I felt more aligned which gave me more energy and helped me feel rested.

Third Step
I started to become aware and work more conscious at work. I was actively appreciative of everything that happened at work. I noticed the things I did well and I appreciated every tiny bit of that. I made myself feel good about the things I did (even if it was cleaning the coffee machine or getting paper for the printer).

Fourth Step
My gratitude and forgiveness practice revolved around my work and my role there. This in itself made me more open, more confident and more aware of the perfect flow of the Universe.

This opened me up again and I started to sleep better. By being more rested I’m better able to work with my limiting beliefs.

So, recapping:

Begin by recharging. Whether that is by going into nature, dance, sleep more, read a book, whatever it is that makes you feel sooooo good.

Then become more conscious of what you do during the day and especially during those activities that your limiting beliefs are associated with. Become more aware

Lastly, practice gratitude and forgiveness.
